HISTORY
Under the guidance of Pastor Cameron M. Alexander, and the support of Antioch Baptist Church North, and the leadership of its Presiding Minister, Rev. Ervin L. Richards, Antioch Lithia Springs accepted its “Charge to Keep” on October 28, 2001. The service was held at the Shoney’s Inn Hotel in Lithia Springs, Georgia. Of the fifty plus people that came out to show support for the first service only five people were actually members on the Mission. Our first service was filled with joy and praise as Rev. Richards preached a sermon on what is know as the Mission’s theme, “Let Your Light So Shine,” (Matthew 5:16).
Those early years were filled with opportunities to show others the love of God. Truck drivers and many a weary travelers who stooped to find rest at the hotel were unaware that they would also find God. Families were adopted by the mission and received food, clothing and shelter assistance.
In 2004, because of the desire to serve the least, less and the lost, ALS Mission established Loving Spirit, In., a non-profit organization which provides for the education and financial needs of underprivileged youth in the community.
In 2005, Antioch Lithia Springs Mission changed its name to Antioch Loving Spirit Mission to reflect the “enlarged territory’ that the Lord was preparing us for. After 5 years at the Shoney’s Inn, ALS Mission relocated to the South Cobb Recreation Center where we continued to give God the praise.
After worshipping in the South Cobb Recreation Center for eight months the LORD blessed us with the opportunity to purchase a church and 2.5 acres of land. Since acquiring our church we continue to “Let our Lights So Shine,” by providing free services and support for the community. We collaborate with various organizations such as Cobb County Senior Services, Austell Community Taskforce and Miller’s Military Academy.
In 2011, God has enlarged our territory and given us the opportunity to promote Jesus globally through www.weareconnected.net. This is where believers can connect and get a daily dose of inspiration, encouragement and the word.
As we continue to do the work of our LORD we ask that you keep us in your prayers. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
